Brittle or Resilient? Think About It!

Resilience is defined as an ability to anticipate, absorb, adapt to,

and/or rapidly recover from a disruptive event.

 That explains why you can’t buy it by the pound!

  What is more than a conqueror?  Perhaps you’ve questioned what the Apostle Paul meant by this in Romans 8:37.  A conqueror is a captor — one who defeats — one who overcomes!

How then can we be more than a conqueror?

Think about it!   ?   ?   ?   ?   ?   ?

More than is a pre-determined mind-set or choice that begins in the way we think before, or in advance of when we’re hit with the storms of life’s.  It’s a tenacity of the spirit.  Are we going to do life or is it going to do us?  Are we going to get a grip or will it grip us?  Jesus assured us we’ll have troubles, but take heart – John 16:33.

Without adversity, our resilience cannot be tested!  An assignment!  Homework!   A test!   So then, in the battle, we either respond by bouncing back or we react and break like an egg as it hits the wall.  On the face of it, brick walls in our life are there not to break us, but show how much we want to bounce back – to live – to get a life – to seize our destiny.    A choice!  A pre-determined choice!

Resilience is not ever crying – or, ever failing – or, about just surviving.  In your battles, how did you handle it?  Did you give up?  Did you stall or pull back?  Were you offended?  Did you see yourself as a victim?  Were you misunderstood?   Or, did you sigh and sarcastically say “whatever.”  If so, you’ve lost your sense of identity and purpose.

You are not what you’re going through or what you’ve been through or even what you did or what was said to you or about you.   These battles can leave us feeling dried out like a sponge. When a sponge dries out, it gets brittle and when it gets brittle, it breaks!  But, when it’s watered, it rapidly recovers — it’s resilient!

If you’re at your breaking point, or lost your passion, if your drive has become listless, if your hope has weakened and you feel dried out, you’ll not have the incentive to be resilient – to bounce back – to be more than a conqueror.   Decide in advance!

God says, “There’s a solid rock foundation in you; I made you to outlast the storms!  I’m about to water you.  You are chosen!  You are the apple of My eye!  Get back on your feet and pass the test, I will help you!”

And the rain descended, and the floods  came , and the winds blew , and beat upon that house;

and it fell not for it was founded upon a rock.  Matthew 7:25  KJV

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground.  Isaiah 44:3  KJV

No matter how many times you trip them up, God-loyal people don’t stay down long;

soon they’re up on their feet, while the wicked end up flat on their faces.  Proverbs 24:16 MSG

That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go.

I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.  Isaiah 41:13 MSG
